Demo Day.....Upstairs Bathroom

Hi All,
The weather has been some what nice here in Florida. So I figured today would be a great day to share a behind the scenes makeover. October 5th marked our 16th year living in our home. The house had great potential and good bones, but it needed a lot of work. Did I mention it was the worst house on the block in a nice neighborhood? Over the years we have tackled so many diy projects and our "Haunted House" as the neighbors called it is looking really good. Sure we still have other projects we need to tackle, but bit by bit the finish line to our diy projects is getting a lot closer. YAY!!! Now for the upstairs bathroom...

This is how the bathroom looked when we purchased the house 16 years ago. The wallpaper and vanity screams 1980's. Since the bathroom was functional we sorta put it on the back burner to take care of more pressing projects. Eventually we did a mini makeover on the space. We removed the wallpaper, upgraded the light fixture, replaced the vanity mirror and painted the walls. Sorry no pics.

I like the gold faucet but I won't be keeping it because it is rather worn. Bomber. I never stopped liking gold fixtures even when the trend switched to pewter, nickle, and chrome. How about that vanity? Not!!!! The hubby decided that he would build a brand spanking new one to take it's place.

That wall paper appears to be endless!!! Yikes!!! It's gotta go too! I see it's leaving now!!! lol

Demolition went fairly easy. The hubs removed the vanity, and the toilet, then he busted up the tile floor. We will be keeping the pictures and the mirror. Those items were purchased when we did the mini makeover.

Once the demo was complete the Hubs dry fitted the tile. He decided to lay the tile in the standard layout since the bathroom is not that big. In this case a simple layout is best.

The light fixture is a keeper. It was one of the items purchased for our mini makeover also.

So what do you think so far? This is the Hubs second tile job and he rocked it out like a true professional, if I must say so myself. The demo has been done and the tile is finished. Next up, an easy bathroom vanity that you'll love.

Go out and make today a GREAT  day!!!
